The University of Illinois System offers the Doolen Scholarships, which are sponsored by the Retirement Research Foundation. Scholarships support two graduate students, one from the biological-biomedical sciences and one from the behavioral-social sciences each year. Applicants must be concentrating scholarly efforts on the topic of aging, i.e., biological aspects of the aging process, sociological concomitants of aging, the treatment of diseases of the elderly, the care of the aged, or other topics related to aging.

Recipients must: • Be in their second year of graduate study, or beyond, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or the University of Illinois at Chicago while the scholarship is held. • Enroll full-time for at least one semester of the academic year for which the award is made. • Priority will be given to candidates who hold an assistantship or fellowship.
