UC Kaitoko Pacific/Pasifika Scholarship (School-Leaver Scholarship)

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise high academic achievement, as well as leadership potential and involvement in Pacific/Pasifika community and/or Pacific/Pasifika cultural activities, amongst intending first-year Pacific/Pasifika students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.


• Applicants must be: • Pacific/Pasifika; and • New Zealand or Australian citizens; or • Holders of New Zealand residence class visas; or • International students studying at secondary level in New Zealand. • Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. • Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award. Selection will be based on: • Quality of achievement at NCEA Level 2, or equivalent university entrance qualification (achievement must be at least NCEA Level 2 at Merit level or equivalent); • Evidence of leadership potential; • Involvement in Pacific/Pasifika community and/or Pacific/Pasifika cultural activities; • Evidence of applicant's participation in, and contribution to, the development of Pacific/Pasifika peoples and the aspirations of their communities; and • Strategic objectives of the University.
