The Timothy Loh Prize
- 31 January 2020
In 2017, Timothy Loh LLP established a scholarship award, named the Timothy Loh Prize, for Juris Doctor students at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which grants a HK$15,000 bursary to one recipient per academic year.
In line with the Global Scholars Program, which offers a paid 4-week internship in Hong Kong to promising law students from any common law jurisdiction, the Timothy Loh Prize is the second initiative of the firm’s dedication to supporting young talent in pursuing legal careers specializing in financial services.
Applicants for the scholarship must be Year 1 full-time or Year 2 part-time students who are enrolled in the Juris Doctor Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They must also demonstrate outstanding academic merit in their course of studies and during the interview with the firm, while possessing a keen interest in finance or other areas of business as shown in their prior studies, work experience or any applicable professional qualifications.
This also is a testament to the student's potential in financial services law, on top of academic merit in his or her JD programme.
The Prize will be awarded to a Year 1 full-time student or a Year 2 part-time student who enrolled in the Juris Doctor (JD) Programme of the University. Selection of the Prize recipient will be based on the following criteria: i) Outstanding academic merit as shown in the JD Programme. ii) Performance at the interview with the Donor. iii) Other qualities, including demonstrating an interest in finance or other areas of business as shown in prior studies, work experience or other professional qualifications.
