Macquarie University has partnered with the National Research and Innovation Agency of Uruguay (ANII) to promote the training of Uruguayan students in a Masters or PhD program at Macquarie University in specific research disciplines via Co-Funded Scholarships. The scholarship round is currently open for candidates to commence with Macquarie University in Session 2 2020.

5 Co-Funded Scholarships per year will be offered to eligible Uruguayan students accepted into a Master of Research (MRes) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Macquarie University.

Eligibility

  • 2 year Master of Research (MRes)
  • Master of Research (MRes) Year 2 + PhD Bundle (1 year + 3 years)
  • 3 year Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (including “Cotutelle”)

Benefits

For a Master of Research program, the Co-Funded Scholarship will provide funding for:

  • Return Airfare between Uruguay and Australia
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Full Tuition fees for up to 2 years
  • Scholarship payments valued at $20,000 for the 1st year of the Master of Research Program to assist in living costs.
  • A stipend paid at the Research Training Program (RTP) Rate (2020 Rate $28,092) in the 2nd year of the Master of Research Program

For a PhD program, the Co-Funded Scholarship will provide funding for:

  • Return Airfare between Uruguay and Australia
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Full Tuition fees for up to 3 years
  • A stipend paid at the Research Training Program (RTP) Rate (2020 Rate $28,092) for up to 3 years

A 50% tuition fee scholarship will also be offered to these students for programs offered by the Macquarie University English Language Centre.

Application

  • Candidates must first apply to Macquarie University. New applicants will need to apply to Macquarie University for admission and scholarship. Candidate research projects should be from one of the Specific Research Disciplines listed above. For details on how to submit an application please visit the HDR How to Apply website.
  • New applicants apply by completing the Online HDR Candidature and Scholarship Application via the Online Application System. Within the application please answer the question as follows:
    • Scholarship Details - Select the scholarship that you would like to be considered for at Macquarie University, select ‘Co-funded Scholarship’
    • Funding Arrangements - How will you fund your living and study expenses?, indicate ‘ANII MACQUARIE’.
  • To be considered for the scholarship applicants will need to provide the details of two academic referees with their online applications.
  • Applications will be assessed at Macquarie University and, if successful, Macquarie University will send a list of eligible candidates to ANII. Successful PhD candidates must forward their Macquarie University admission letter to ANII by March 2020. Master and Master of Research candidates must forward proof of their application for admission to the Macquarie University program to ANII by March 2020.
  • ANII will make the final selection of students and inform Macquarie University.
  • Selected candidates will receive an offer letter for the relevant higher degree research program.
