The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) is one of the leading economic research institutes in Europe. We are an independent, non-profit institute involved in economic research and policy advice. We co-operate closely with universities in Berlin and Brandenburg and in international academic and policy networks. The institute offers a tenure track for high performance post-doctoral researchers.
Contracts for visiting fellows are normally limited to a period of at least three months. Longer contract periods can be arranged individually.
During the time of his fellowship with DIW Berlin the visiting fellow is in principle obliged to be present at the institute.
Through his or her independent research, the visiting fellow is expected to support and advance basic research as well as applied . The research results are to be published in the institute's discussion papers and in relevant academic journals mentioning DIW Berlin. The research activities should, if possible, be conducted in close co-operation with the researchers, PhD students and post-docs of the institute.
As DIW Berlin closely co-operates with universities in Berlin and Brandenburg, it is possible for the visiting fellow to give lectures at these universities.
The visiting fellow should furthermore contribute to the academic educational programs (Summer Schools, Week End Schools) organized for PhD. students and post docs in Berlin by DIW Berlin within the framework of an interdisciplinary research network in economics and related diciplines.
