The University of Hong Kong (or HKU, as it is familiarly known to students, staff and alumni) is the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. On March 16, 1910, Sir Frederick Lugard, the then Governor of Hong Kong, laid the foundation stone for the University.

Selection criteria:
- General academic merit;
- Suitability of the intended programme of study abroad;
- Leadership qualities; and
- Financial need
Award of the Scholarship will be subject to the successful candidate:
i) Joining the study abroad programme arranged by his or her Faculty or arranged by the University;
ii) Being admitted to a programme of study at a university or college overseas.
The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other enrichment scholarships administered by the University.
Scholarship awardees are required to submit an exchange report after they return to HKU.

Benefits
One scholarship shall be awarded each year to an undergraduate student in any Faculty to enable the student to spend a period of at least six months studying at a university or college prior to completion of his or her programme of study for the undergraduate study.
