Start date: October 2018
Swim Wales, Sport Wales and Swansea University have teamed up to offer this exciting opportunity to undertake a PhD in performance optimization in international swimmers. Following the recent successes of Swim Wales at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games the team are keen to further develop their focus in the area of performance science. This PhD will combine the disciplines of performance physiology, biomechanics and engineering to answer key performance questions as identified by Swim Wales.
The successful candidate will also get the unique opportunity to not only develop their understanding of the research process but also get to work poolside with the athletes and coaches. In addition, the successful candidate will get mentoring as a performance scientist from senior practitioners at Sport Wales and have access to their CPD activities. It’s envisaged that this PhD will bridge the gap between Science and Practice to ensure this body of research has maximum impact for Swim Wales.
