Subject to student candidates who meet the selection criteria being identified, the University and the Donor intend that, in each academic year, the scholarships will be awarded to (i) one candidate from the Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences ("FASS"), and (ii) one candidate from the NUS Business School.
SCCCF Chinese Studies Scholarship
In addition to the University's criteria for scholarship selection (if any), the candidates must also meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the scholarship: (i) the candidate must be a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident; (ii) the candidate must be pursuing his/her full-time undergraduate studies at the Department of Chinese Studies at FASS, and/or at the NUS Business School at the time of selection for the scholarship; (iii) the candidate must have a cumulative average point (CAP) of at least 4 out of 5, at the point of selection and for subsequent academic years in order for the scholarship to be renewed; (iv) the candidate must, in the University's sole opinion, demonstrate or have demonstrated the following skills, abilities, and interests: • Good leadership skills and character records; • Good involvement in co-curricular activities; • be bilingual in the Mandarin and English languages; and • show a keen interest in and knowledge of local Chinese businesses. The successful candidates will be encouraged to attend an award presentation ceremony organised by the Donor.

Each scholarship may be used to cover the student's costs in connection with their undergraduate course, including tuition fees, living allowance, accommodation fees, student exchange programme fees and NUS Overseas College programme fees.
• Application Period: July/August • Each successful candidate will be required to write an essay of 5,000 words in each year of the scholarship award. The topic of such essay for each candidate will be assigned by their respective school or department as the case may be, in consultation with the Donor. Each of these candidates will be expected to complete his/her essay within one month after being briefed on the essay topic. However, in respect of the candidate from the Department of Chinese Studies at FASS, the candidate may volunteer to undertake work with researchers at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall as an alternative to writing the essay, with the scope of the volunteer work to be determined by the Department of Chinese Studies at FASS in consultation with the Donor or the researchers at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall.
