The National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) was founded in 1997 as a stand-alone national graduate university focused on policy studies. Future policy leaders and researchers from all over the world gather here, forming an international research hub.

The TOEFL® test is a popular option for students to meet the English-language requirements for scholarships.
Over 90% of our students receive full scholarships. Scholarships are provided by the Japanese government and international organizations and are allocated through GRIPS. A limited number of GRIPS Fellowships are also available to qualified doctoral students.
