Nanotechnology/Analytical Chemistry: Fully Funded KESS II MSc by Research Scholarship at Swansea University: Smart Electrochemical Taste Sensor
- Master
- Full cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a stipend
- 26 October 2018
*This scholarships is part funded by the Welsh Governmentâs European Social Fund (ESF) convergence programme for West Wales and the Valleys.*
Start date:Â January 2019
Smart sensor technologies have a wide range of applications in the food and beverage industry as they promote more efficient and environmentally sustainable production and manufacturing. The increased need for the automation and control solutions in food industries demands the development of a wide range of reliable sensor technologies at low cost. An intelligent sensor system can enhance the interactions between the consumer and the food company as well as the quality and durability of food, eventually reducing the food waste. This project aims at developing smart electrochemical taste sensor for the precise detection of piperine in chilli sauces. This involves the development of nanomaterials platform, surface functionalisation and explore the electrochemical detection mechanism.
Scholarships are collaborative awards with external partners including SMEâs and micro companies, as well as public and third sector organisations. The scholarship provides 1 year funding with a 3 month period to complete the thesis. The achievement of a postgraduate skills development award, PSDA, is compulsory for each KESS II scholar and is based on a 30 credit award.
