Funding provider: Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research
Subject area: Mathematics
Project start date:
- 1 October 2022 (Enrolment open from mid-September)
Supervisors: Any available supervisor in the Department of Mathematics, whose research includes Pure Mathematics, Probability or Data Science.
Aligned programme of study: PhD in Mathematics
Mode of study: Full-time
Project description:
We invite applications for PhD study in Mathematics at Swansea University. The studies will be funded by the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research from their UKRI/EPSRC award “Heilbronn Doctoral Partnership (HDP) 2022”.
In addition to undertaking cutting-edge research, students on this programme may expect to participate in summer workshops in years 1-3. It is anticipated these will be about 4 weeks in length and residential in nature (with extra costs covered as appropriate).
A research project can be in one of the fields below:
- Algebra, Geometry and Topology
- Mathematical and computational methods in machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Partial Differential Equations
- Stochastic Analysis and (Noncommutative) Probability
Detailed information about research directions in the Department of Mathematics can be found at the Research and Impact webpage of the Department. Applicants should demonstrate interest in one or more of the above research fields.
Students from traditionally under-represented groups in mathematics are strongly encouraged to apply.
