Masa Israel works to make it as easy as possible for Jewish young adults to go to Israel. We offer grants and/or scholarships to help make the experience more affordable, and collect information about other grants and scholarships available for long-term Israel programs from third party organizations.
Eligible gap year participants ages 18-20 will receive $500 grant toward the cost of their program. Study abroad participants automatically receive $1,000 toward tuition, and eligible participants over the age of 21 automatically receive $2,400 - $4,500 (depending on the length and cost of your program). Masa Israel also offers eligible participants up to $3,000 in additional needs-based scholarships. Former Soviet Union (FSU) Masa participants from the Former Soviet Union are eligible to apply for universal grants in the amount of up to $10,000 (depending on the length of your program). Argentina; Venezuela Masa participants from Argentina and Venezuela are eligible to apply for universal grants in the amount of up to $9,500 (depending on the length of your program). Other countries Eligible gap year participants ages 18-20 will receive a $500 grant toward the cost of their program. Study abroad participants automatically receive $1,000 toward tuition, and eligible participants over the age of 21 automatically receive $2,400 - $4,500 (depending on the length and cost of your program). Masa Israel also offers eligible participants needs-based scholarships of up to $10,000 (including the universal grant and depending on the length of your program).
Please note that you will receive either the Grant OR the Needs-based scholarship but not both.
To be eligible for a universal grant through Masa Israel Journey, you must:
- Be Jewish
- Be a graduate of a secondary school and/or between the ages of 18 and 30
- Not have Israeli citizenship OR if you do, you must have left Israel before the age of 14 and have lived outside of Israel for at least four consecutive years prior to receiving your grant
- Have not been on an organized program (including an academic program) of more than four months in Israel since September 2004
- Have not spent 4 consecutive months or longer in Israel within the 24 month period prior to the start of your chosen Masa program after the age of 18.
Participants on Masa Israel-recognized programs of any length who fit the eligibility requirements listed above can apply for additional need-based financial aid depending on their country of origin and income.
If a program is shorter than ten months, the need-based scholarship will be proportional to the length of the program.

Masa Israel participants on a gap year program between the ages of 18-20 are eligible for a $500 grant which will be allocated directly to their program provider toward tuition. Masa Israel participants on study abroad programs and participants between the ages of 21-30 are eligible to apply for universal grants toward the cost of your program. All Masa Israel participants, ages 18-30 are eligible to apply for additional needs-based scholarships. Your grant/scholarship will be deducted from the total cost of your program. The amount available depends on your country of origin, age, and the length of your program.
