Leeds College of Music is a leading European Conservatoire, situated in Leeds, the third largest city in the UK and home to over 200 music venues. We provide expert musical education at undergraduate, postgraduate and further education level to over 1,500 students each year, with an emphasis on developing industry-relevant, creative and ambitious musicians and entrepreneurs. We also run a Saturday Music School for young musicians, numerous short courses and an extensive events season that features internationally renowned artists and ensembles. Our alumni enjoy a range of careers in the music industry as performers, producers, composers, business owners and more.

In addition to the statutory funding available, Leeds College of Music provides a range of additional Scholarships and Bursaries, to ensure that no applicant is deterred from applying for financial reasons, and to encourage applications from those interested in shortage areas, exceptional candidates, or from groups that are underrepresented at the conservatoire.

Travel and Audition Bursary for applicants - We will provide assistance to applicants from lower income households, to ensure that no one is deterred on the grounds of cost from attending an audition or interview at the conservatoire. This will take the form of a refund of reasonable travelling expenses and the audition fee (where applicable) to applicants (Home students only) who are from a low income household.

Leeds College of Music Bursary - The conservatoire will provide a cash bursary for lower income Home (UK) students.

Household income £0- £25,000 -Bursary £1,000; Household income £25,001 - £42,620 - Bursary £500.

Excellence Scholarships - We offer Excellence scholarships annually to outstanding undergraduate applicants who demonstrate exceptional potential at audition/interview. The scholarship takes the form of a cash grant  of £2,000 payable for up to three years, subject to annual review. (Home and EU students)

The Alan Hawkshaw Foundation Scholarships - Three Scholarships of £1,500 per year are awarded to support gifted students on the conservatoire’s Music and Jazz undergraduate programmes. Awards are made to students studying the following principal instruments: Trombone, tuba, bassoon, French horn, oboe, double bass and piano.

The Reuben Vincent Trombone Scholarship - Two scholarships of £2,500 each are available for principal trombonists, for the purchase of a new trombone.

Leeds Cathedral Scholarships - Four choral scholarships, one choral conducting scholarship and one organ scholarship, are available to undergraduates on any pathway. The award is by application and audition during enrolment week.  Scholars are paid £1,000 and up to an additional £500 for extra events.
