This scholarship is offered by the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR). The Fenner Merit Scholarship is a supplementary scholarship in honour of eminent Australian and former JCSMR scientist Professor Frank Fenner. The scholarship is intended to attract students of high calibre to pursue graduate research at the John Curtin School of Medical Research. The number of scholarships available may vary from year to year. Fenner Merit Scholarships will be awarded annually to high-ranked applicants who have been awarded a PhD stipend scholarship tenable at JCSMR.

To be awarded a Fenner Merit Scholarship, must be: • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident of Australia or international student of high calibre; • enrolled in a PhD program at JCSMR; and • in receipt of a base/primary stipend scholarship.
