Applications are invited for an Ernest Oppenheimer Studentship to be held at Cambridge University in Colloid Science as broadly interpreted within the fields of biology, surface chemistry, materials science and nanotechnology. The Studentship is to support research projects directly leading to a PhD.
The application should be made by the designated research supervisor, on behalf of the named candidate. It should include:
(a) A brief description of the proposed research project, noting its relevance to colloid science, the starting date and the period of the award sought.
(b) The CV of the candidate (including research interests and academic performance to date as well as position in class as x/y) and two references, at least one of which should be external to Cambridge.
(c) A completed copy of the cover sheet form which accompanies this notice.

The length of the Studentship is 3.5 years. The period of the maintenance grant is 42 months, and the contributions for consumables and for the Composition Fee are 36 months (three years).

The award provides a grant at current EPSRC rates and the University Composition Fee at the home rate. Non-European Union students will be expected to be able to cover the difference between the fees for European Union students and the fees for Non-European Union students, whether through another award or by other means. The Studentship also attracts a contribution towards consumables and travel costs of ÂŁ7k per annum. Special cases for an increase in this figure may be considered at the discretion of the Committee of Management.
