EPSRC PhD International Studentships in Mathematical Sciences

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Reading is pleased to offer up to two fully funded four year EPSRC PhD studentships in the Mathematical Sciences. Studentships are offered in a range of areas covering applied, numerical and pure mathematics and statistics. Further details on the available projects can be found below:

Project 1 - Inference of nonlinear dynamics through data assimilation and machine learning

Project 2 - Eigenfunctions, overdetermined PDEs, and rigidity

Project 3 - Effects of predictive causality in long-term trends of cryptocurrency data

Project 4 - Randomized parallel algorithms for data assimilation in numerical weather prediction

Project 5 - Optimising Magneto-Polymer Gels by Combining Molecular Simulations and Machine Learning

Project 6 - Large-scale least squares solvers with applications

Project 7 - Singular Integral Operators in Potential Theory at the Analysis Numerical Analysis Interface

Eligibility

Benefits

Stipend/maintenance grant at the UKRI level (£15,609 per annum for 2021/22). Studentships will be available to commence in September 2022.

In accordance with UKRI guidelines, these studentships are available on a part-time basis in addition to full- time registration. The minimum registration is 50% FT and the studentship end date will be extended to reflect the part-time registration.
