The NUS Faculty of Law is pleased to invite applications for the “Ella Cheong Intellectual Property Scholarship” (hereafter called “Scholarship”). Hong Kong lawyer Ms Ella Cheong has in her personal capacity made a gift of S$1 million to the NUS Faculty of Law for this faculty-level non-endowed Scholarship. The primary objectives of the Scholarship are to assist academically meritorious NUS law undergraduate students in their education expenses.

In order to be eligible for the Scholarship, the applicant must: • be enrolled in the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore; and • have taken at least two (2) Intellectual Property (IP) subjects and obtained a minimum B grade for those subjects in the year of application. In making its recommendations, the Selection Committee has the discretion to consider the candidate’s academic records (in law school and pre-university) and extra-curricular activities records. Preference will be given to applicants with Intellectual Property related scientific background. Applications are open to Singapore citizens, Singapore permanent residents and international students.

The expendable gift is to be used to award three (3) Scholarships per academic year. Each scholarship will be valued at $10,000, to be disbursed in 2 tranches of $5,000 each. The disbursement of the first $5,000 will be upon selection. For disbursement of the second tranche of $5,000, the recipient must have completed two (2) more IP subjects and obtained a minimum B grade for those subjects. The awards shall be used firstly to cover the scholarship recipient’s tuition fees for his/her undergraduate studies, and any balance will be used for living allowance.
For all Faculty-Level Donated Scholarships, interested applicants should submit your application together with supporting documents via NUS Undergraduate Scholarship Application Portal by 10 May. Supporting documents should include: personal statement, CV, copies of academic records, relevant co-curricular activity records and other relevant supporting documents.
