The David M. Rubenstein Scholars Program is designed to attract and support first-generation, low-income students financially, academically, personally, and professionally. It was named after David M. Rubenstein, the philanthropist and Duke alumnus who was the first member of his family to attend college.

Benefits
David M. Rubenstein Scholars receive more than a scholarship covering the full cost of a Duke education. Students become part of the larger Duke merit scholar community in the Office of University Scholars and Fellows and are mentored by faculty. They are provided with ongoing enrichment opportunities, including funding to pursue special research and experiential projects.
Application
There is not a separate application for these scholarships. Those applying to Duke as incoming first-year students are automatically considered.
