This project (20FUN02 POLight) has received funding from the EMPIR programme co-financed by the Participating States and from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
Funding providers: Swansea University's Faculty of Science and Engineering and part funded by European Commission
Subject areas: Analytical Chemistry, Optical Spectroscopy, Imaging, artificial intelligence
Project start date:
- 1 April 2022 (Enrolment open from mid–March)
- 1 July 2022 (Enrolment open from mid-June)
Supervisors: Dr Deb Roy, Dr Kevin O’Keeffe
Aligned programme of study: PhD in Chemistry
Mode of study: Full-time
Applications are invited for a 3 year PhD studentship to work on advanced label-free super-resolution optical imaging for applications in materials and biological sciences.
In this project you will develop new microscopy and imaging techniques by combining atomic force microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and machine learning for chemical and biological analysis at spatial resolution ranging from 10 nm to few microns. The project will build upon a successful collaboration between Swansea University and the national measurement institutes in Europe.
