Swansea University is seeking a top-class candidate to undertake a PhD studentship in the field of scalable advanced nano-materials. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary and dynamic research environment. The project will have the scope to work on synthesis as well as developing macro and nanoscale spectroscopic methods including micro-Raman and tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy with the aim of understanding exotic properties at the nanoscale. You will be based at the Department of Chemistry, and work in a dynamic collaborative environment internally with the Centre for Nano Health, Swansea Medical School, Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating and industry partners, and externally with collaborators abroad. Such research will enable a developing future variety of chemical processes that are deemed difficult or impossible with the current technologies.
Swansea University strongly encourages research collaboration worldwide and there may be opportunities for short term secondment in internationally leading laboratories abroad. This opportunity also provides a substantial tax free stipend equivalent to many graduate jobs.
Candidates should have a minimum of a 2.1 undergraduate degree and/or a Master's degree with Merit (or equivalent qualification) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering or related discipline.
